Who was Adonis?

Adonis, the man, the Legend

We at Adonis Massage really do believe there is a lid to every pot and beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so first and foremost, everybody is somebody’s Adonis.
Adonis has become a term used to describe the perfect man, (if such a thing exists) usually in physique but who was Adonis?

The Perfect Man

The original Adonis is a man from Greek Mythology. He was the mortal lover of the goddess of love, Aphrodite. No pressure on his part. Being who she was, Aphrodite probably set her bar pretty high, but he was a man of supernatural beauty, so that helped no doubt.
When Adonis was a baby, Aphrodite put him in a box and gave him to the queen of the underworld, Persephone, for safe keeping. So stunning was his beauty, Persephone also grew smitten with Adonis. The time came for Aphrodite to ask Persephone for his return, but she refused.

Aphrodite was, understandably, enraged.

Aphrodite appealed to the king of the gods, Zeus, who decreed Adonis should spend one third of the year with the goddess of the underworld, one third with the goddess of love, the last third Adonis could do with as he pleased.

Why Adonis?

We are not saying that we are perfect men, far from it. But every man, gay, straight or otherwise, should strive to be the best version of themselves that they can be. Be your own perfect man, your own Adonis.

Not in a narcissistic arrogant way, but in a way where we you love yourself, love the journey you have travelled so far and are excited about where it’s going.

Yes, a chiselled jaw bone, a handsome face, rippling muscles and abs help, but in time they fade, as all beauty does. As cheesy as it sounds, it’s the inner beauty that never fades, quite the opposite, it only gets stronger.

Constantly striving to better yourself, be a better version of you today than you were yesterday – physically, mentally and spiritually. In our opinion it’s those attributes that make an Adonis and it’s those that we here at Adonis Massage strive for.
